Reflection:
In this project, we chose our partners and selected a country that speaks Spanish. We were instructed, with specified requirements, to create a survival guide. Along the way in creating these survival guides (like the one I've pasted the URL to above), we were also given the task of, with our partners, creating a skit given a scenario that might happen in our country in relation to transportation, accommodations, etc. These skits, along with our survival guides, were presented during exhibition. The survival guides themselves needed to have the following elements: a title page, a table of contents, an introduction, a map of the country page, a transportation page, an accommodations page, a shopping page, a food page, a choice scenario page, and a bibliography. That is how, respectively, my partner and I organized our survival guide.
In researching and talking about my country, I actually discovered a lot of information about Honduras. For example, I know that Honduras has a capital comprised of two cities. I also found out that Janae, our teacher, has traveled to Honduras; even to an island I researched in particular: Utila. I had no idea she had been to Honduras before. On the other hand, I discovered that Honduras is one of the most dangerous, possibly the most dangerous, country in the world. I still find a lot of its culture (including food) very fascinating.
With this project, I had more experience talking to people in Spanish. I also gained a lot of important geographical information in regards to Honduras that I found very interesting. I gained a good understanding of Honduras/US relations, and also a good understanding of what trade and other features of Honduras's location. For instance, it comprises the entire land route between El Salvador/Guatemala and Nicaragua, the only three countries that border it. This is important information, because Nicaragua is very important for trade.
